Lost overnight, 80-year-old Tigard mushroom picker found
An 80-year-old mushroom picker from Tigard was found safe this morning after spending the night outside in the Trillium Lake area.
According to Clackamas County Sheriff's Department officials, Akemi Takahashi was discovered by searchers after blowing the whistle she carries with her for such circumstances.
As of 8:10 a.m. Friday, rescuers were helping her make her way out of the area where she most likely will be taken to a hospital where she will be assessed and treated for any injury associated with being exposed to the elements overnight.
Takahashi was reported missing at 6:50 p.m. on Thursday after a fellow mushroom-picker reported not having seen her since 4:40 p.m. Sheriff's officials reported that Takahashi was an experienced mushroom picker who was wearing an orange jacket but had left her cell phone in the car.
Volunteer searchers from Pacific Northwest Search and Rescue along with K-9 search teams from Mountain Wave Search and Rescue responded to the incident.
