PMG PHOTO: JAIME VALDEZ - Tigard High School (pictured) is one of three schools in the Tigard-Tualatin School District where classes have been delayed Tuesday, Oct. 8, by a power outage.Three Tigard-Tualatin public schools are opening later than usual Tuesday, Oct. 8, as crews work to restore power in parts of Tigard and King City.

Portland General Electric says more than 4,000 customers in the 97223 and 97224 zip codes — which collectively cover much of Tigard, plus the neighboring communities of Durham, King City and Metzger — are affected by Tuesday morning's outage.

The loss of power prompted the Tigard-Tualatin School District to announce just before 7 a.m. that Tigard High School, Twality Middle School and Templeton Elementary School will have a delayed start Tuesday. They're currently set to open two hours late.

PGE estimates power will be restored by 11:15 a.m.
