The Oct. 18 event, preceding the Pumpkin Regatta, will be held at Stickman Brewing Co.

PMG FILE PHOTO - Annie Meneakis cheers after finishing a race at the West Coast Giant Pumpkin Regatta in Tualatin. This year, Tualatin's annual West Coast Giant Pumpkin Regatta will be a two-day affair, set for Friday, Oct. 18, and Saturday, Oct. 19.

Friday evening will kick off a new event, the first Pumpkins & Pints, held at Stickmen Brewing, 19475 S.W. 118th Ave., from 5 to 11 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance, or $25 at the door, and include a collectible Pumpkins & Pints glass along with eight drink tickets.

Friday night events will also include the Pacific Giant Vegetable Growers' Terminator Weigh-Off, where the biggest of the big pumpkins will compete for cash prizes. At the same time, food, a pumpkin-carving demonstration, a free photo booth, pumpkin checkers and early access to West Coast Giant Pumpkin Regatta merchandise will all be available.

Meanwhile, those wanting to check paddling a giant pumpkin off his or her bucket list can win a raffle to win an opportunity to paddle in the West Coast Pumpkin Regatta.

Then on Saturday, regatta activities begin at 10:30 a.m. with a costume contest.

At noon, the first of two pumpkin races begins as contestants paddle around Tualatin Commons Lake in the huge, hollowed-out pumpkins. A second race for police, firefighters, the public and lottery winners is set for 2 p.m.
