The celebration, hosted by Beaverton's SWBible Church, will run from noon to 1 p.m. in the museum's sunken ballroom on the corner of Southwest Park and Main streets in Portland.

He will be joined by his son Andrew and other members of the family. The event is considered a milestone for Palau, a longtime Beaverton-area resident whose world headquarters are also located in Beaverton. He was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer two years ago but doctors told him last year that his cancer had stabilized for the moment.

Born in Argentina, Palau has spent the majority of his life as an evangelist, developing a close relationship with the late evangelist Billy Graham, and a 2015 New York Times article referred to the bilingual Palau as a "Hispanic Billy Graham."

It is believed that Palau has spoken to an estimated one billion people during his 60 years of crusades and radio programs.

In April, Palau's life and work hit the big screen with "Palau: The Movie," shown for two days in selected movie theaters in the Portland area.
