COVID-19 pandemic means Cat Adoption Team's Kitten Palooza will be online only
There's good news and there's bad news.
The good news is, yes, there will be a 2020 Cat Adoption Team Kitten Palooza.
The bad news is you won't be able to get an in-person glimpse as all those adorable balls of fur up for adoption as adoptions will be held online-only on Friday, June 26, and Saturday, June 27.
"This will be our first year doing Kitten Palooza as a virtual event," said Heather J. Svoboda, communications and development manager for Cat Adoption Team. "Typically, we host this adoption event in person on the last Saturday of June at our Sherwood-based shelter. But pretty much everything about the event is different for 2020."
Starting on Friday (4 to 6 p.m.), and continuing on Saturday (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.), Sherwood's Cat Adoption Team will post between eight to 10 kittens per hour on its website, all up for adoption.
Applications will be processed on a first-come, first-serve basis and all of those virtual attendees must be available for a one-hour online adoption counseling session, also planned for Saturday. At the same time, kitten-adopters must be available to pick up their kittens on Sunday during a Palooza Pickup Parade.
Those hoping to adopt a kitten only need to click on the animal's photo and hit the "Apply to Adopt" button. That will guide potential adopters to creating a profile and completing a questionnaire before submitting an application.
Those who are approved will be notified via email within 60 to 90 minutes of applying.
