Sherwood mayor, three council seats open for November election
Seats are now open in Sherwood for anyone seeking the job of mayor or any of three City Council at-large positions in the Nov. 3 general election.
Those seats are currently occupied by Mayor Keith Mays and Councilors Sean Garland, Renee Brouse and Kim Young.
As of Thursday, all had filed for re-election to their respective seats.
In addition, Taylor Giles, who previously served as chair of the Sherwood School Bond Oversight Committee, has filed for one of the at-large positions. Giles holds a bachelor's degree in computer science and has a background in product management, healthcare software and small business ownership.
The mayor's position is for a two-year term; council positions are four years, all of which begin in January 2021.
Those interested in running can submit a petition signed by at least 20 City of Sherwood registered voters (the petition must be approved by the City Recorder prior to circulation) or a candidate can pay a $10 filing fee. The petition must be approved by Sherwood's city recorder before it is circulated.
Deadline is 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 25.
