Tualatin drug take-back day is Saturday
Tualatin Together is partnering with the Tualatin Police Department to hold a safe disposal of medications day as part of National Drug Take Back Day set for Saturday, Oct. 24.
The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Tualatin Police Department, 8650 S.W. Tualatin Road.
Sponsored by the Drug Enforcement Agency, National Drug Take Back Day provides community members the opportunity to go through their home medicine cabinets, look for medications that are no longer needed or safe, and drop them off at locations nationwide.
While the DEA typically sponsors events in April and October, the spring event was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
"A key focus of Tualatin Together is substance use prevention for children and youth. One of the best ways to remove temptation is to get rid of those unused or unwanted medications that might be left sitting in your home medicine cabinet," said Cyndy Hillier, executive director of Tualatin Together. "We are so pleased to be part of this event in supporting the health of our community."
A non-profit group, Tualatin Together works to highlight issues around mental health and substance misuse challenges.
