Nonprofits serving Washington and Multnomah County residents can now apply for a grant opportunity through the Southminster Presbyterian Church Foundation.

A foundation is offering thousands in grant money for nonprofits serving Washington and Multnomah county residents.

The Southminster Presbyterian Church Foundation announced it will be giving out $12,900 in funds to organizations that provide healthcare, shelter, food or housing. The foundation will give priority to local organizations.

"Priorities for funding (include) services, staff and facilities and equipment," said the Southminster Presbyterian Church Foundation in the announcement. "Grants are made for a single year and are rarely approved for more than two consecutive years for a single organization."

The foundation added that the funds will go towards the request that was made or agreed upon between the foundation and the grantee.

"In practice, individual grant amounts are almost always less than $3,000," the foundation noted.

According to the foundation, it has awarded more than $400,000 to community organizations since 1980.

The grant application deadline is Feb. 27, 2021.
