This week's calls include: a brazen car theft, an out-of-control fire and nails in a driveway.

Monday, Jan. 11

While a woman left her car idling and smoked a cigarette nearby, a man driving a white SUV pulled up near her car and jumped into her 2004 Volkswagen Passat in the 12400 block of Southwest 69th Avenue and sped away. Later that day, she notified Tigard Police that her credit cards left in the vehicle had been used at a gas station in Washington. 

Officers assisted TVF&R on a call about a warming fire that lit the side of a building on fire in the 13800 block of Southwest Pacific Highway. Fortunately, no one was hurt and the fire was extinguished before there was damage to the building. 

Tuesday, Jan. 12

Officers are investigating a hit and run that occurred at the intersection of Southwest Cascade and Scholls Ferry Road. A driver heading northbound on Southwest Cascade through the intersection on a greenlight was T-boned by a Toyota Tundra that ran a red light. One passenger was injured and taken to the hospital.

Officers responded to a number of calls about downed trees and hazards throughout the day due to the weather.

Wednesday, Jan. 13

An officer contacted a homeowner in the 10300 block of Southwest McDonald Street who found 30 roofing nails in his gravel driveway.

An unsecured Momentum brand bicycle was stolen from an apartment balcony overnight in the 12500 block of Southwest North Dakota.

Thursday, Jan. 14

A death investigation was conducted at a home in the 11600 block of Southwest Greenburg Road. A man was found deceased inside the home, likely due to a medical issue. The medical examiner responded.

A man who was walking on a trail between Southwest Beef Bend Road and Southwest Bull Mountain Road just before midnight reported he was robbed of his wallet by a man on a bike. The suspect was not immediately located. Police are following up on leads.

Friday, Jan. 15

An employee at a store in the 9700 block of Southwest Washington Square Road reported a customer stole a handbag worth $2,650. Officers are reviewing security video from the store.

A man reported a trailer full of household items was stolen in the 14100 block of Southwest 72nd Avenue, resulting in a significant loss. The investigation remains open.

Saturday, Jan. 16

Officers received several calls about a car involved in a crash at a store parking lot in the 13900 block of Southwest Pacific Highway. The driver left the scene and was involved in a second crash in the area of Southwest Gaarde Street and Southwest 112th Ave.  The driver and passenger ran on foot into an apartment complex. The suspects were not located.

An employee of a restaurant in the 11600 block of Southwest Pacific Highway reported being pepper sprayed by a man who was rummaging through the garbage cans. Responding officers tried using a K-9 track to locate the suspect but were unsuccessful. Surveillance video is being reviewed and the investigation remains open.

Sunday, Jan. 17

A man was cited for public indecency after callers reported he was engaged in an intimate act outside a store in the 11900 block of Southwest Pacific Highway.

Officers responded to a report of first-degree sexual abuse involving a minor. The case has been referred to detectives for further investigation.
