No charges have been filed to this point in the death of Nicholas James Potter.

The Tigard Police Department has identified the victim of a fatal shooting last week.

Police say Nicholas James Potter, 36, was shot and killed by a relative in the 15000 block of Southwest 79th Avenue.

Officers were called to a residence early Friday morning, May 7, and discovered Potter's body inside.

No charges have been filed in the case.

The Washington County District Attorney's Office will be reviewing the case before making a decision on criminal charges, police say.

"Investigators believe there was an ongoing issue related to Mr. Potter and threats of violence," Tigard police said Monday, May 10.

The alleged shooter is cooperating with the investigation, according to police. Their identity and exact relationship to Potter has not been made public, but police describe them as "a relative within the household."

Police say there is no threat to the public.

This is a developing story.
