The accident occurred Sunday night near Aurora when police saw a Porsch 911 traveling at a high rate of speed.

A 35-year-old Tualatin man lost his life on the Fourth of July following a single-vehicle crash near Aurora.

According to the Marion County Sheriff's Office, a 2007 Porsche 911, later determined to be driven by Guy Reed, was spotted going eastbound on Ehlen Road at a high rate of speed at 9:30 p.m. by a Canby Police Department sergeant who was traveling westbound.

Canby police did not attempt to stop the vehicle and the sergeant lost sight of the car while he turned his vehicle around. A short time later, the sergeant came upon the crash and saw that witnesses were trying to help those inside the vehicle, which had partially caught on fire, a news release stated.

Lifesaving efforts by medical personnel at the scene were unsuccessful Reed, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His passenger, Jenna Mansfield, was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
