This week's calls include: a stolen shopping bag, a returning shoplifter and a recovered catalytic converter.

Monday, Oct. 4

Several mailboxes were broken into in the 9300 block of Southwest Maplewood Drive. At least one homeowner reported mail was stolen.

A woman's car window was shattered while she was grocery-shopping in the 11500 block of Southwest Pacific Highway, and a shopping bag full of merchandise was stolen.

Tuesday, Oct. 5

A woman reported being hit several times by an intimate partner. The man involved was taken to jail and charged with assault.

Officers responded to a hit-and-run injury crash on southbound Highway 217 at the Interstate 5 interchange. Witnesses reported one driver sideswiped another, pushing the car into the wall, and then took off. One driver went to the hospital and the suspect was located and arrested nearby.

Wednesday, Oct. 6

As part of the Mental Health Response Team, a Tigard police officer and a mental health clinician were requested to assist Tualatin police with a person in crisis. The person was taken to the hospital for an evaluation.

A man who had previously been trespassed from a store in the 11500 block of Southwest Pacific Highway returned to the store and stole items. He also returned to a neighboring business where he had previously been trespassed. He was taken to jail on charges of theft and two counts of criminal trespass.

Thursday, Oct. 7

An officer stopped a driver who was swerving near Southwest 72nd Avenue and determined the driver was under the influence of alcohol. The driver's blood alcohol content was measured at 0.18% — more than twice the legal limit. He was charged with DUII and reckless driving.

Officers responded to a CPR call where a man overdosed in his car. Officers successfully administered Narcan before medics arrived, and the man was taken to the hospital.

Friday, Oct. 8

Officers investigated a case of aggravated theft in which two customers stole merchandise from a store in the 10200 block of Southwest Washington Square Road.

A death investigation was conducted in the 11400 block of Southwest Viewmont Lane, where an 80-year-old man died. The causes appear to be natural.

Saturday, Oct. 9

A caller reported being involved in a road rage incident where the other driver pulled a gun and threatened to shoot him. Both parties walked away, and the suspect was not immediately located.

Officers encountered a man with a machete outside the police department, who was initially believed to be the suspect in a menacing case involving a bus driver. Officers contacted the man and blocked off traffic on Southwest Hall Boulevard while working to diffuse the situation. The Mental Health Response Team was called, but ultimately, officers learned there was no menacing case. The man agreed to put the machete away, and everyone walked away.

A juvenile was hit by a car near Southwest 135th Avenue and Summerwood Drive. The child was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver reported the child jumped out in front of him, and officers determined charges against the driver were not warranted.

Sunday, Oct. 10

A caller reported witnessing a man cutting a catalytic converter off a school bus at a school in the 7900 block of Southwest Durham Road. The caller followed the suspect until police arrived. Officers recovered the catalytic converter and arrested the man on several charges.

A caller reported a man was prowling garages at an apartment complex in the 9600 block of Southwest North Dakota Street. A K-9 track was conducted, and the man was located nearby.
