That's when the community is invited to meet at the park's main picnic shelter to scour the area for litter.

"This is the first time the city has partnered with the Tualatin Sustainability Network and the (Tualatin) Rotary to do a litter pick up," said Jackie Konen, Tualatin's volunteer program manager. "We will be covering nine different routes radiating out from Tualatin Community Park."

Organizers are providing tools, gloves, guidance, maps and snacks for the event.

"This started in the pandemic with volunteers wanting to do something but being unable to have group events," said Konen, who has more than 70 volunteers who will be tasked with various duties throughout Tualatin. "Many of them who were picking up trash started reporting concerns about litter in the city. This event is a direct result of citizens noticing litter and asking for more input and public education."

Participants are asked to dress appropriately for whatever that day's weather has in store. They should bring a water bottle, a "litter picker" (if they have one) and a mask.
