This week's calls include: attempted home break-ins, store employee punched and catalytic converter theft


Monday, Nov. 8

An officer assisted in a death investigation involving a 77-year-old man in the 12300 block of Southwest 72nd Avenue. There are no signs of foul play.

A man reported his car, a 2005 Buick Terraza, was stolen in the 14200 block of Southwest Milton Court.

A teenager who was threatening to hurt himself was taken to the hospital for a mental health evaluation with his father's permission.

Tuesday, Nov. 9

A stolen car was recovered in the parking lot of a store in the 7600 block of Southwest Dartmouth Street with a missing juvenile in the passenger seat. The driver was located inside the store and officers learned he had an arrest warrant. The juvenile was returned to her mother.

Just after midnight, a man in the 9200 block of Southwest Mandamus Court reported someone tried to open his door, then climbed up to his patio area and removed his screen. Another neighbor reported her patio table had been moved and fingerprints were found on her window screen that may be related. In a separate report, another resident on the same block reported capturing a man on surveillance video who tried his front door, then climbed to a second-story porch to try a door there. Nothing was damaged or stolen and the suspect has not yet been identified.

Wednesday, Nov. 10

A loss prevention employee at a store in the 9700 block of Southwest Washington Square Road was punched in the face while confronting a shoplifter. The shoplifter was taken to jail charged with third-degree robbery.

An officer responded to a traffic crash at Southwest 72nd Ave and Upper Boones Ferry Road involving two cars. One driver ran a red light and crashed into the other. One person was taken to the hospital. The at-fault driver was cited for failing to obey a traffic control device.

A case of telephone harassment was reported between an ex-boyfriend and ex-girlfriend.

Thursday, Nov. 11

Catalytic converters were stolen from two cars parked in the 9500 block of Southwest Washington Square Road.

A man came to the police department to turn himself in on an arrest warrant out of Clackamas County.

A man reported losing $2,000 in a blackmail scheme involving the threat of intimate photos being shared with others. Officers were not able to identify the suspect.

Officers responded to several traffic crashes and a downed tree on Southwest Genesis Loop due to the heavy rain.

Friday, Nov. 12

Two cars were reported stolen; a 1998 Honda Civic from the parking lot of a business in the 7500 block of Southwest Dartmouth Street and a 2012 Toyota Camry from a parking lot in the 9500 block of Southwest Washington Square Road.

A driver crashed into a pole at Southwest 72nd Avenue and Beveland Street, sustaining a minor injury. The driver told officers he'd been reaching down for something at the time.

Officers responded to a number of hazard calls, especially during the early morning, for high water, stalled cars and down trees due to the weather.

Saturday, Nov. 13

n Police were called to a shoplifter in custody at a store in the 9300 block of Southwest Washington Square Road. Loss prevention employees reported a man stole more than $1,200 in merchandise. He was charged with first-degree theft and was taken to jail.

An officer responded to the 11100 block of Southwest Hall Boulevard to assist the Washington County Crisis Team with a woman who was in crisis. A crisis counselor took the woman to a hospital for an evaluation.

An officer responded to an area hospital, where a report was made of a domestic violence assault that happened in Tigard. The woman declined to press charges for assault and strangulation against her partner.

An officer on routine patrol came across a driver who was showing signs of impairment near Southwest Pacific Highway and Southwest 68th Parkway. The driver was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of cocaine.

Sunday, Nov. 14

Officers responded to an armed robbery at a store in the 7600 block of Southwest Dartmouth Street. Witnesses reported a man and woman pulled a knife on an employee as they left the store with stolen merchandise. Officers found the suspects nearby and charged them both with first-degree robbery and second-degree theft.

Catalytic converters were stolen from two cars parked in the 9500 block of Southwest Washington Square Road; a 2007 Prius and a 2008 Prius. In this case, the caller described the suspects as a man and woman who may have been driving a white Cavalier.

A 14-year-old girl was reported as a runaway by her family. She was safely found around noon.
