That means the Tigard grade school will transition to distance learning for the rest of this week.

"Due to the increasing impact COVID-19 and the Omicron variant has had on staff and students, Durham Elementary will transition to distance learning effective immediately," stated a Tigard-Tualatin School District news release sent Sunday evening. "School will be held online Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday this week."

Wednesday had already been set as a teacher planning day with no classes at any district school.

Durham Elementary is the first school in the district to shutter its doors this year due to COVID-19 issues.
