The Tigard Police Department returns from a reporting hiatus with a log of calls from April 11-17, 2022.

Editor's note: Police logs are a partial accounting of law enforcement calls, based on activity reports and descriptions generated by participating police departments. All persons accused of a crime are legally considered to be innocent until proven guilty.

Monday, April 11

A driver involved in a wrong-way head-on crash on Highway 217 was released from the hospital and was taken to jail on several charges.

Two shoplifting cases were reported, including a customer who was seen concealing items in her purse and leaving a store in the 7600 block of Southwest Dartmouth Street, and merchandise worth more than $1,000 was stolen from a store in the 10200 block of Southwest Washington Square Road.

A few minor crashes were reported due to the brief morning snow and slush.

Tuesday, April 12

A man reported his 2012 Cadillac Escalade was stolen from a business parking lot in the 14300 block of Southwest 72nd Avenue. The car was recovered later that day by police in Vancouver, Washington.

Officers helped with a death investigation, in which a 100-year-old woman passed away at her care facility of suspected natural causes.

Officers are investigating a case of sexual assault involving two minors.

Callers reported hearing someone near Southwest Johnson Street and Grant Avenue screaming "get off me." Officers found a woman on a bridge in the area who was under the influence of drugs and hallucinating. She agreed to be taken to the hospital for treatment.

Wednesday, April 13

Officers took several reports of stolen vehicles at the 11700 block of Southwest 69th Avenue, in the 11400 block of Southwest Pacific Highway and a parking lot in the 10800 block of Southwest Greenburg Road.

A box truck was broken into overnight near Southwest 74th Avenue and Torchwood Street. The suspect pried off the lock and stole thousands of dollars in tools and material. There is no suspect description at this time.

A man was arrested for trying to pass a fraudulent check at a bank. Officers learned a woman's checkbook had been in her car, which was stolen a month earlier.

Thursday, April 14

Officers responded to a crash with reported injuries on  Southwest Pacific Highway near Main Street. A driver crashed into a traffic light pole, causing significant damage to his car. He had to be cut out by firefighters with Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue. The driver was taken to the hospital for injuries, and was later arrested for DUII, reckless driving and criminal mischief. Southbound Highway 99W was closed for about an hour and a half for the crash.

A loss prevention employee at a store in the 9300 block of Southwest Washington Square Road reported being punched by a shoplifter who stole nearly $1,000 in merchandise. A Tigard officer and a Washington County deputy found the woman, who was walking with a man, on Southwest Hall Boulevard near Eliander Street. The woman was arrested for robbery III and giving false information to police. She also had misdemeanor warrants out for her arrest, and the man she was with was jailed on a felony arrest warrant.

Friday, April 15

Officers responded to an alarm at a business in the 11500 block of Southwest Pacific Highway. The case is being investigated as a potential burglary, but officers don't yet know whether anything was actually stolen.

A business in the 14200 block of Southwest 72nd Avenue was burglarized by someone who broke through a fence. The investigation is active and no arrests have yet been made.

Saturday, April 16

Officers assisted Sherwood police with a driver who was wanted for shoplifting and eluding police. The driver ditched the car in the 10400 block of Southwest Canterbury Lane, and a K-9 track was conducted. During the K-9 track, another car turned on and the occupants drove at the officers, who moved out of the way for safety. The car was later stopped near Southwest McDonald Street.

A man with a felony drug-related warrant was arrested in the 11900 block of Southwest Pacific Highway. Officers found a concealed spring-blade knife on his person, pills and cash. He was taken to jail on the warrant and the additional charge of carrying a concealed weapon.

Two women who are neighbors started fighting over one's husband, and one of the women pepper-sprayed the other. Officers determined the woman who used the pepper spray initiated the fight and she was arrested for harassment.

Sunday, April 17

During a road rage incident, a man reportedly pointed a gun at another driver on Southwest Pacific Highway near Beef Bend Road. Officers stopped the suspect's car on Interstate 5 and recovered two loaded guns. He was taken to jail on charges of menacing.

Officers were called to a domestic disturbance involving an adult son and his mother. The son was taken to jail, to be charged with harassment (domestic violence), interference with making a report, and interfering with a peace officer.
