Support Jeanette Schade for Beaverton School Board
If you are frustrated by distance learning or the social agendas being taught in our local schools, you can change that by voting for Jeanette Schade in the May 18, 2021, Beaverton School Board election.
I had the opportunity to meet Jeanette and was impressed by her obvious passion and conviction. I was also impressed by her non-confrontational attitude and eagerness to talk to everyone, including those who disagree with her.
While she will fight for her constituents when she joins the Beaverton School District school board, she won't fight with her fellow board members. She is looking to work with them to get our schools heading in a more positive direction which will benefit all students within the BSD boundaries, and her 23-plus years of experience in education will be an asset to the school board.
Jeanette believes the voices of many parents are not being heard by the current school board. She will fight to get the schools open, not just on a limited basis, but back to full in-class learning five days a week.
Jeanette's motto is "Build Back Basics." She will work to return our schools to teaching the basic skills such as reading, writing and math, as well as art and music. Jeanette will strengthen the career and technical education program, so students can explore a wide range of career opportunities and not be pigeonholed into one idea of success.
Jeanette feels passionately that the Beaverton School District needs to give all children the skills and tools they need to succeed in life without spending precious resources on controversial social agendas which don't benefit the students, but instead often drive a wedge between them.
Please visit her website at buildbackbasics.com and consider giving her your vote on May 18.

In praise of the American Rescue Plan
Good news is upon us! Not only is spring here, but COVID numbers are going down and our legislators have passed a comprehensive COVID relief bill.
I, for one, am quite grateful that there seems to be a light at the end of a very long, dark tunnel.
As a member of CRS (Catholic Relief Services) Portland Advocacy Chapter, I want to express much gratitude to Sen. Jeff Merkley, Sen. Ron Wyden and Rep. Suzanne Bonamici for voting to pass the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021.
We have seen through this pandemic how small our world really is and how closely connected we are to our brothers and sisters around the world. This legislation not only provides relief for the American people, but also addresses the needs of the most vulnerable people outside of the U.S.
We are especially grateful to the staff of all three of our legislators for meeting with us and listening to our concerns as this bill travelled through Congress. This much-needed assistance is a blessing for all who share this one earth.
