Jesse Springer cartoon last week sends wrong message
Your cartoon is backward — if anyone is unhappy living in Oregon and wants to live under Idaho-type laws, then stop complaining! Move to Idaho!
I am tired of this nonsense surfacing every few years by some blogger or someone else that thinks it's a good joke! Dispense with it.

The real wrong is not teaching the facts
Critical race theory is not anti-white; it's just honest teaching of American history. Taking this teaching as a personal assault, misses the boat. No one is accusing anyone of being born racist. The point is that our systems of government and societal norms are systemically racist. Ignoring those racist acts that exist in America's past is continued evidence of this systemic racism.
Taking truthful historical lessons as a personal assault, is to ignore the very strength of America, which is that we are a culture of diverse elements. E pluribus unum, the motto of the United States, means "out of many we are one." Some of those elements have histories that have been ignored and even altered and suppressed.
It is said "the truth will set us free." Critical race theory is just revealing truth. We are critical of China for suppressing the truth of Tiananmen Square from its citizens. We are better than that. We do not need to hide from our history. History does not assault. History explains and reveals. We are strengthened by better understanding our history, our entire history.
