Clackamas County restaurant Mike's Drive-In to open in Tigard
Mike's Drive-In, an iconic burger and shake establishment with locations in Oregon City and Milwaukie, has announced plans it will open a restaurant in Tigard.
The burger chain's first new location in three decades will open at 11634 S.W. Pacific Highway, near Southwest 74th Avenue, sometime in late spring.
"It took us 30 years to find the perfect location and we are excited to have found it in Tigard," owner Todd Freeman said in a news release. "We are thrilled to be joining the Tigard community and can't wait to open the doors and welcome old and new customers."
The hamburger chain was founded in 1971 by Mike Martin, with its original location at Southeast 47th Avenue and East Burnside Street in Portland.
Today, Mike's Drive-In has two locations — both in Clackamas County.
The Milwaukie location, where Freeman once worked while still attending Milwaukie High School, opened in 1973.
Freeman purchased the business in the early 1980s, opening its Oregon City location in 1989.
