You can catch the show for free at Hillsboro parks in August. An adaptation of Shakespeare's "The Tempest," featuring Spanish-speaking characters, is coming to Hillsboro parks this summer.

Produced by Bag & Baggage Productions and directed by Yasmin Ruvalcaba, this free staging of Shakespeare's tragicomedy will run from Aug. 11 through Aug. 28.

Like other Shakespearean comedies, "The Tempest" is known for its fantastical storytelling and magical characters.

"There's magic everywhere," said Ruvalcaba in the announcement from Bag & Baggage. "Whether it's the little-kid kind of magic, or a more adult sense of amazement, it's everywhere. I want people to be able to see our performance and be filled with that element of awe. It helps bring out our inner child and is a great opportunity to laugh and engage in the healing process."

Unlike the original play — as in many of Shakespeare's works, most of the characters are Italian, although the Bard himself was from England — this production leans into Hispanic heritage and includes English- and Spanish-language dialogue.

The production will also feature entirely new actors to the Bag & Baggage company, with each of them portraying multiple roles.

"The Tempest" will be shown at Rood Bridge Park, Griffin Oaks Park and Shute Park. While tickets are free, they are limited.
