The Sherwood wrestling squad also takes 16th place at the Rose City Championships

LAKE OSWEGO — The Sherwood High School wrestling team got its Three Rivers League schedule off to a winning start.

The Bowmen opened league competition by scoring a 48-30 win over Lakeridge in a league dual match held last Thursday at Lakeridge High School.

Sophomore Logan Swanson had the only pin for Sherwood on the night, as he defeated Lakeridge's Ronan Chapman in a time of 1 minute and 19 seconds in the 113-pound match.

Bowmen senior Jack Murphy posted a 19-4 technical fall victory over Cole Brink at 126 pounds.

Sherwood junior Andrew Fujii got an 18-10 major decision win over Connor Riedl at 145 pouns and, at 160, Bowmen junior Ian Stormont notched a 6-1 decision win over Pierce Boucher.

Also for the Bowmen, sophomore Nick Hekker (106 pounds), junior Haden Munson, senior Rustin Williams (195), junior Jackson Barton (220) and senior Jayden Cuthbertson all won by forfeit.

Sherwood also took 16th place in the team standings, with 98.5 points, at the Rose City Championships, held Friday and Saturday at Westview High School.

Williams took fifth place at 195 pounds at the tournament.

The Bowmen will be back in action today (Thursday) when they host Lake Oswego in a Three Rivers League dual match starting at 7 p.m. at Sherwood High School. On Saturday, Sherwood will wrestle at the Liberty tournament.
