Timberwolves top David Douglas to stay perfect
Another game, another win for the Tualatin High School softball team.
The Timberwolves stayed unbeaten on the season by rolling to a 6-1 win over David Douglas in a non-league game played April 4 at David Douglas High School.
With the loss, David Douglas moved to 6-4 on the season to that point. Tualatin improved to 9-0 with the victory.
Junior Emily Johansen got the Wolves off to a fast start in the contest with a two-run home run in the top of the first inning. Senior Ella Hillier added a two-run home run in the top of the fifth frame.
For the game, Tualatin sophomore Bella Valdes went 2 for 4 at the plate with a pair of doubles and a run scored. Senior Taylor Alton went 2 for 4 with a run scored and an RBI. Freshman Taylor Corcoran went 2 for 3 with a run scored.
Junior Lily Marshall doubled and scored a run and sophomore Tia Ridings had a hit and an RBI.
Ridings, throwing the first five innings, also picked up the pitching win. She gave up no runs on two hits, while striking out nine and walking two. Senior Megan Woodward pitched the final two frames, giving up one run on two hits, while striking out three.
The Wolves' scheduled games with Westview and Beaverton on Saturday were postponed due to rain.
Tualatin will open its Three Rivers League schedule on Wednesday, when it plays at Canby at 5 p.m. On Friday, the Wolves will host Lakeridge in a league game starting at 5 p.m.
