Bowmen bounce back to get win over Lakeridge
The Sherwood High School baseball team ended a losing streak in a very big way.
The Bowmen, after being swept in a three-game series by Lake Oswego, bounced back to post a 9-2 win over Lakeridge in a Three Rivers League game played Tuesday at Lakeridge High School.
With the win, Sherwood improved to 8-4 in TRL play (13-6 overall), putting the Bowmen in a tie with Tualatin for third place in the league standings. Lakeridge fell to 2-10 in league games and to 4-17 on the season.
Senior Riley Aggson pitched Sherwood to the win. Aggson threw six shutout innings, allowing one hit while striking out nine and walking one.
Senior Hayden Gilbert led the Bowmen offensive attack, going 5 for 5 at the plate, with a triple, two runs scored and two RBIs. Senior Anthony Garrett went 2 for 4 with a double, a run scored and one RBI. Junior Sage Dunaway went 2 for 3 with a triple, two runs scored and an RBI. Junior Noah Beeks drove in three runs. Jacob Matzat added a double. Senior Takumi Kammerzall scored a run and drove in a run.
The teams will play the second game of their series on Wednesday, starting at 5 p.m., at Sherwood High School. The series will conclude Friday with a 5 p.m. contest at Lakeridge. On Saturday, the Bowmen will host Central Catholic in a non-league contest starting at 11 a.m.
