The Wwolves sweep the series with rival Tigard on their way to picking up seventh straight TRL win

The Tualatin High School baseball team just keeps on rolling.

The Timberwolves completed a sweep over rival Tigard and then picked up a big win at home over Canby on Tuesday, giving the team a seven-game winning streak in Three Rivers League play.

The victory over Canby on Tuesday gave Tualatin an 11-4 record in TRL play (16-7 overall), putting the Wolves in a tie with Lake Oswego for second place in the league standings.

Tualatin, on May 2, came away with an 8-2 win over Tigard in a league game played at Tigard High School.

Senior Cole Kinman helped lead the way for the Wolves in the victory, going 2 for 4 at the plate with a home run and two RBIs. Junior Kyle Dernedde, senior Kaden Cook, senior Chris Freese and junior Gavin Moore each added two hits for Tualatin in the victory.

Cook also got the complete-game pitching win. He gave up two runs (none earned) on five hits, while striking out nine and walking two.

For Tigard, seniors Nick Heinke and Micah O'Donnell each had a pair of hits.

In the rivals' final game of the series, played Friday at Tualatin High School, the Wolves got a 5-4 win.

Moore singled in Cook for the walk-off winning run in the bottom of the seventh.

Dernedde went 2 for 3 at the plate in the win, with a home run and two RBIs. Senior Colby Jackson, Cook and senior Sean Chamberlin had two hits apiece.

For Tigard, junior C.J. Rivers and O'Donnell had two hits apiece.

In Tuesday's 11-1 home win over Canby, Cook went 3 for 4 at the plate with a double, a run scored and an RBI. Sophomore Blake Jackson went 2 for 4 with a double, two runs scored and two RBIs. Moore went 4 for 4 with two runs scored and an RBI. Kinman went 2 for 3 with two runs scored and an RBI. Senior Danny Shell went 2 for 3 with two runs scored.

Shell also picked up the win on the mound. In six innings of work, he gave up one run on two hits, while striking out 10 and walking none.

Tigard bounced back on Tuesday to get a 5-1 home win over Newberg.

Rivers got the complete-game pitching victory, giving up one run on eight hits, while striking out seven and walking none. He also hit a pair of doubles.

Senior Michael Quintana went 2 for 4 at the plate with a run scored and three RBIs. Heinke and junior Lance Kreisberg each had a pair of hits for the Tigers.

With the win, Tigard improved to 8-7 in TRL play (15-9 overall), keeping the Tigers in fifth place in the league standings.

Tigard and Tualatin both will be back in action on Wednesday. The Wolves travel to Canby and Tigard will play at Newberg. On Friday, in league finales, Tigard will host Newberg at 4:30 p.m. and Tualatin will be home to face Canby at 5 p.m.
