The Eagle boys lose to Sherwood, but get win over Century at the Pacific Conference meet

Westside Christian, running at a Pacific Conference dual meet with Sherwood and Century lost 16-47 to the powerful Bowmen, but they got a 19-36 win over Century in the meet held Sept. 26 at Century High School.

Freshman Caden Hildenbrand led the way for the Westside Christian boys at the meet. Hildenbrand, after grabbing the lead early in the race, ended up finishing in fifth place overall, with a time of 18 minutes, 19.41 seconds for the 5,000-meter course.

Also for the Eagles, senior Kellen Petersen was 11th at 18:57.56, freshman Matthew Fagen was 16th at 19:15.75, junior Gabe Askew was 17th at 19:23.84, junior Ethan Chung was 30th at 22:24.38 and sophomore William Golson was 31st at 22:51.12.

In the varsity girls race, Westside Christian junior Becca Gurnee was 19th at 24:37.00 and junior Claire Shearer was 21st at 30:20.69.

On Saturday, the Westside Christian boys finished in 13th place in the team standings in the varsity boys division 3 race at the Nike Portland XC meet, held at Portland Meadows.

Hildenbrand finished 23rd in that race with a time of 17:36.90. Raz was 56th at 18:03.00, Petersen was 71st at 18:12.90 and Fagen was 89th at 18:30.30.

The Westside Christian teams will be back in action on Friday, when they run at the Flat & Fast Invitational, to be held at Joe Dancer Park in McMinnville. The varsity girls race is set to start at 4:15 p.m., with the varsity boys race to follow at 5 p.m.
