The Timberwolves jump out to a big halftime lead on their way to getting a 47-16 victory

The Tualatin High School football team has been impressive all season long.

And, in the Timberwolves' latest win, absolutely everything seemed to go their way.

Tualatin, jumping out to a 47-0 halftime lead, ran to a 47-16 win over Westview in a non-league game played Friday at Tualatin High School.

With the victory, the Timberwolves moved to 6-0 on the season. The Wildcats fell to 2-4 with the setback.

Senior Jett Searle started the scoring parade for Tualatin on Friday, pulling in a 24-yard touchdown pass from senior Kyle Dernedde. That was followed by scoring runs of 13 yards, by senior Kwabena Lynn, and 14 yards, by senior Dominique Loggins.

Senior Caden Dickson capped off the first quarter scoring with an 18-yard interception return for a touchdown, which gave Tualatin a 26-0 lead at the end of the opening period.

Dickson had scored touchdowns earlier this season on a run and a reception, in addition to throwing a touchdown pass.

In the second quarter, Tualatin got an 18-yard TD run by junior Luke Marion, a 35-yard scoring run by junior Blake Jackson and a 39-yard touchdown pass play from Jackson to Lynn, upping the halftime margin to 47-0.

In the fourth quarter, Westview got a 50-yard touchdown run by freshman Matt Lesowski and a 3-yard TD run by sophomore Gabe Foster, making the final score 47-16.

The Tualatin offense, in the victory, was as balanced as can be, as the Wolves had 191 yards rushing and 191 yards passing.

Dernedde completed four of seven pass attempts for 80 yards and Jackson completed five of seven pass attempts for 79 yards.

Lynn had two receptions for 60 yards. Searle had two catches for 30 yards and Dickson had three receptions for 28 yards.

Loggins led the Timberwolf rushing attack with 52 yards on six carries. Jackson ran for 37 yards on three carries and Marion had 37 yards on two carries.

For Westview, Lesowski ran for 65 yards on five carries. Foster completed four of 22 pass attempts for 46 yards.

Both teams will be back in action on Friday. Tualatin will play at West Linn in a Three Rivers League showdown starting at 7 p.m. Westview will travel to Grants Pass for a non-league game starting at 7 p.m.
