Tigers win, Wolves lose in play on Tuesday
The Tigard High School volleyball team, looking to make a late run for a Class 6A state playoff berth, picked up a key win on Tuesday.
The Tigers, after dropping the first set, rallied to score a 16-25, 25-23, 25-20, 25-17 win over Lakeridge in a Three Rivers League match played at Lakeridge High School.
With the win, Tigard improved to 3-8 in TRL matches (5-11 overall), putting the Tigers in a tie with Lakeridge for sixth place in the league standings.
Tigard will be back in action on Thursday, when it will be home to face St. Mary's Academy in a league match starting at 6:30 p.m. On Tuesday, the Tigers will host Oregon City in a 6:30 p.m. league contest.
Tualatin, on Tuesday, fell 25-15, 25-15, 25-18 to league-leading West Linn in a TRL match played at West Linn High School.
With the loss, the Timberwolves moved to 6-5 in TRL play (11-7 overall), keeping them in third place in the league standings.
Tualatin will be back in action on Thursday, when it plays at Oregon City in league match starting at 6:30 p.m. On Tuesday, the Wolves will play at St. Mary's Academy in a 7 p.m. league match.
At the Class 3A level, Horizon Christian clinched the Lewis & Clark League regular-season championship by scoring a 25-10, 25-17, 27-25 win at Portland Adventist Academy on Oct. 3. With that win, the Hawks improved to 10-1 in Lewis & Clark League play, and to 13-3 overall.
Horizon Christian will finish its regular-season schedule on Thursday, when it travels to face De La Salle North Catholic at 6:30 p.m.
Westside Christian improved to 6-5 in Lewis & Clark League play (8-6 overall) by scoring a 25-6, 25-13, 25-11 win over Riverside in a match played Tuesday at Westside Christian High School.
The Eagles will finish their regular-season schedule Monday, when they play at Oregon Episcopal School at 6 p.m.
