Sherwood drops Pacific Conference finale at Liberty
The Sherwood High School volleyball team ended up with a split in its final two Pacific Conference matches of the season.
On Oct. 10, the Lady Bowmen posted a 25-16, 25-21, 23-25, 25-17 win over Century in a match played at Sherwood High School. Last Thursday, Sherwood fell 27-25, 28-26, 25-23 to Liberty in a match held at Liberty High School.
The split gives Sherwood a conference record of 7-5 (10-8 overall), putting the Lady Bowmen in a tie with Liberty for third place in the final conference standings.
Sherwood, which is the No. 25 team in the final Class 6A power rankings, will open the Class 6A state playoffs on Wednesday, when it plays at Lincoln in a first-round match set to start at 6 p.m. Lincoln, the Portland Interscholastic League champion, is 20-2 on the season and the No. 9 team in the OSAA power rankings.
If Sherwood wins at Lincoln on Wednesday, it will either play at Sandy, or host Cleveland, in a state playoff second-round match on Saturday. The winner of Saturday's match advances to play in the Class 6A state tournament, which will be held Nov. 2-3 at Liberty High School.
