The Eagles also claimed the Special District 1 championship prior to the Class 3A meet

Just a little more than a week after winning the Special District 1 championship, the Eagles ran to third place in the team standings at the Class 3A state cross country championships, held Saturday at Lane Community College in Eugene.

Westside Christian had a score of 94 points to take third place at the Class 3A state meet. Burns placed first in the standings with a score of 52. Enterprise was second at 54. Catlin Gabel was right behind the Eagles in fourth place with a mark of 98.

Hildenbrand ran to 10th place, individually, at the Class 3A state meet, with a time of 176 minutes, 25 seconds for the 5,000-meter course.

Senior Kellen Petersen and junior Davis Raz also had top-20 finishes for the Eagles. Petersen was 19th in a time of 18:03 an Raz was right behind him in 20th at 18:08.

Also for Westside Christian, freshman Matthew Fagen was 25th at 18:15, freshman David Dugan was 44th at 19:03, junior Gabe Askew was 49th at 19:24 and junior Ethan Chung was 60th at 20:07.

Hildenbrand again led the way for the Eagles at that meet. He finished in third place at that race with a time of 17:08. Petersen was fifth at 17:22 and Raz was eighth at 17:31.

Also for the Eagles at the district meet, Fagen was 14th at 17:57, Askew was 18th at 18:21, Dugan was 30th at 19:01 and junior Tommy Kang was 51st at 21:02.

Ross finished in 11th place.The Horizon Christian boys finished in fourth place at the Special District 1 championships with 90 points, leaving the Hawks one place short (Riverdale was third at 82) of earning a state team bid to state.

Junior Gavin Ross paced the Hawks, finishing 11th in a time of 17:46. Senior Tucker Olson was close behind in 14th at 17:55 and senior Zach Schreiber was 16th at 18:09.

Also for Horizon Christian, senior Travis Schiele was 21st at 18:43, senior C.J. Panaitescu was 32nd at

19:07, senior Kyle Free was 33rd at 19:16 and senior Carter Barrett was 37th at 19:30.
