The Bowmen get seven pins, as they move to 1-1 in conference matches with 61-15 win

The Sherwood High School wrestling team picked up its first-ever Pacific Conference dual match win.

Not only that, but the Bowmen got that win in dominating fashion.

Sherwood got its first victory in its new conference by powering its way to a 61-15 win over Liberty in a dual match held Jan. 10 at Liberty High School.

With the victory, the Bowmen evened their conference record at 1-1. Liberty fell to 0-3 in conference matches with the setback.

In the match at Liberty, the Bowmen got seven of their individual victories by fall. Sherwood sophomore Malachi Tishendorf had the quickest pin for the Bowmen, as he needed just 27 seconds to defeat Liberty's Jacob Winchester in the 145-pound match.

Sherwood senior Haden Munson, at 120 pounds, got his fall almost as fast, as he defeated Kenneth Rask in 0:37.

Sherwood junior Nick Hekker pinned Emerald Koeppel in 2:25 at 113 pounds. Bowmen junior Philip Resch put John Lacambra's shoulders to the mat in 1:06 at 138 pounds. At 152, Sherwood senior Andrew Fujii pinned Isaac Lee in 2:40. Sherwood junior Brody Stevens pinned Tyler Paysse in 3:09 at 160 pounds and Bowmen senior Jackson Barton defeated Junior Jimenez in 1:47 at 220.

Also for Sherwood, freshman Seth Glenn got a 12-3 major decision win over Bryce Wunderley at 132. Senior Kaden Rhinehart got a 5-3 decision win over Adrian Hinojosa at 195.

Sherwood freshman Ethan Ritchie, at 106 pounds, and junior Logan Swanson, at 126, received forfeit victories.

The Bowmen will be back in action on Wednesday, when they host Century in a key Pacific Conference match. Varsity bouts are set to start at 7 p.m. Sherwood will also compete at the Oregon Classic, which will be held Friday and Saturday at the Deschutes County Fairgrounds and Expo Center in Redmond.
