Bowmen junior point guard Jamison Guerra is the Pacific Conference Player of the Year

PMG PHOTO: DAN BROOD - Sherwood High School junior point guard Jamison Guerra (left) was named the Pacific Conference Player of the Year.It was quite a banner year for the Sherwood High School boys basketball team.

The Bowmen went 21-6 on the season, while also winning the Pacific Conference championship, going 11-1, marking the team's first league title at the Class 6A level. The Sherwood team also won a Class 6A state playoff game, beating Sprague, and ended the season just one win away from earning a berth in the Class 6A state tournament.

The Sherwood team was rewarded for its accomplishments with top honors on the Pacific Conference all-league list. In fact, the Bowmen swept all of the conference's top awards.

Sherwood junior post guard Jamison Guerra was named the Pacific Conference Player of the Year. Bowmen sophomore guard Asher Krauel was tabbed the Pacific Conference Defensive Player of the Year and Sherwood coach Rahim Tufts was named the Pacific Conference Coach of the Year.

Sherwood junior post Blake Jensen and senior guard Tyler Hix were both all-conference second-team selections. Krauel was an honorable mention pick.

Also named to the all-conference first team were Forest Grove junior Guy Littlefield, Newberg senior Alex Jaczko, Newberg junior Jack Chlumak and McMinnville senior Luke Arzner.

Joining Jensen and Hix on the all-conference second team were Century junior Jospin Mugisha, Liberty senior E.J. Estocapio, Forest Grove senior Ayden Purcell and Forest Grove senior Adison Emerick.

Lady Bowmen senior post Kaytlin Cooke was an all-conference second-team selection and senior guard Alex Verkamp was an honorable mention pick.

Other all-conference first-team selections included Glencoe senior Morgan DeBord, McMinnville sophomore Kylie Arzner, Liberty sophomore Livia Knapp, Century senior Janelle Maligaya and Liberty sophomore Taylin Smith.

DeBord was named the Pacific Conference Player of the Year. DeBord and Walkenhorst shared the Pacific Conference Defensive Player of the Year honor and McMinnville's Sean Coste was named the Pacific Conference Coach of the Year.
