Tualatin falls in volleyball postseason tilt
The Tualatin High School volleyball team battled hard all season to earn a spot in postseason play.
But that's where the season came to an end for the Timberwolves.
Tualatin saw its 2019 season come to a close with a 25-21, 25-12, 25-8 loss to Sheldon in a Class 6A state playoff first-round match played Oct. 30 at Sheldon High School in Eugene.
With the win, Sheldon, the Southwest Conference champion, and the No. 4 team in the final OSAA power rankings, improved to 22-6 on the season. The Irish also advanced to the second round of the Class 6A state playoffs, where they'll host Bend on Saturday in a match scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
Tualatin, the No. 5 team out of the Three Rivers League, and the No. 29 team in the final OSAA power rankings, finished it season with a final overall record of 8-12.
The playoff loss marked the final high school match for Tualatin seniors Brooke Stewart, Bella Valdes, Savannah Braun, Olivia Ashley and Jackie Phillips.
