Now, the Sherwood squad is looking to make the most of it.

The team, a Sherwood all-star team put together by two coaches of recreational squads, featuring players from the Sherwood recreational fall soccer league, and sponsored by Senestraro Orthodontics, earned a berth in the 2019 Fall Oregon Youth Soccer Founders Cup tournament, which traditionally features teams playing at the club level.

The Sherwood squad claimed its tourney berth by playing three matches against competitive club teams from the Portland area, and Washington, earlier this Bayern month. Sherwood beat THUSC Black 5-0 and HSC Bayern Blue 4-3, and fell 3-1 to the Pacific FC Rage to finish in second place in the Group D standings, giving the team a spot in the tourney bracket.

The Sherwood team will open bracket play on Saturday with a quarterfinal match in the boys ages under 13, Division 2 bracket. Sherwood will face FC Portland Red in a contest set to start at 11 a.m. at the Tualatin Hills Park and Recreation District complex in Beaverton, on the turf No. 1 field.

If the Sherwood team wins its quarterfinal contest, it will play either the Pacific FC Rage or the Southside Soccer Club Tiempo in a tourney semifinal match set to start at 10 a.m. Sunday at PCC Rock Creek. The tournament championship match will be played Nov. 23.

Members of the Sherwood team include Devin Jedan, Carson Harrop, Thadeus Suckow, Cameron Arn, Riley DeBorde, Tanner Smith, Titus Godard, Corbin Tesdall, Kyler Anderson, Ethan Morris, Logan Bryant, Kieren Reynolds, Gavyn Murphy, Ezra Barker, Isaac Gaba, Mikey Brandt, Joey Domingo and Brody Yeldell. The team is coached by Jimmy Godard and Eric Anderson.
