Tigers, Wolves earn TRL volleyball honors
The Tualatin and Tigard high school volleyball teams battled the best of the Three Rivers League all season long.
The rival Timberwolves and Tigers certainly battled each other, with the teams splitting their Three Rivers League contests.
For Tualatin, which placed fifth in the final league standings at 6-8, while going 8-12 on the season and reaching the Class 6A state playoffs. Senior Jackie Phillips led the way on the All-Three Rivers League list.
Phillips, a four-year starter for the Timberwolves, was a first-team all-league pick at setter. Phillips, this past year as a senior, also shined for Tualatin when she played at an outside hitter position.
Tualatin senior middle blocker Kylie Zralka was a second-team All-Three Rivers League selection. Timberwolf senior outside hitter Olivia Ashley and senior libero Bella Valdes were both honorable-mention all-league picks.
For the young Tigard team, which finished in seventh place in the TRL final standings at 2-12, while going 4-15 on the season, sophomore outside hitter Kaitlynn Peterson and junior setter Kennedy Peery were both second-team All-Three Rivers League selections.
Other all-league first-team picks include Canby junior outside hitter Daley McLellan, West Linn junior outside hitter Audra Wilmes, Oregon City senior outside hitter Madison Hornback, Canby senior setter/hitter Ruby Kaiser, Lake Oswego senior outside hitter Jordan Noble, Lake Oswego senior outside hitter Jensen Kaelin, Oregon City junior libero Abby Bareksten, Oregon City senior setter Anessa Chirgwin, Lakeridge junior middle blocker Kendall Baldwin, Oregon City senior outside hitter Ali Brown and St. Mary's junior setter Zoe Nguyen.
Other players named to the all-league second team include West Linn sophomore outside hitter Emily Warmenhoven, Lake Oswego junior right side Kendall Kaelin, Lakeridge senior libero Maicy Wear, Canby senior libero Arika Evans and West Linn junior libero Lily Snook.
Other players given honorable-mention all-league accolades include West Linn senior outside hitter Claire Matthiessen, Canby junior outside hitter Caitlin Gay, St. Mary's senior middle blocker Devyn Baer, Lakeridge senior middle blocker Kally Lewis, West Linn senior setter Kate Griffin, Lake Oswego junior libero Audrey Wojcik, Lake Oswego junior outside hitter McKenna Joyce, Oregon City senior middle blocker Kailee Walker, Lakeridge senior setter Avery Ensing, and Lake Oswego sophomore middle blocker Morghn Monahan.
McLellan was named the Three Rivers League Player of the Year. Canby's T.J. Schlatter was tabbed the Three Rivers League Coach of the Year.
