The Bowmen boys move to 4-0 in conference with a 65-45 win, girls triumph 44-37

PMG PHOTO: DAN BROOD - Sherwood High School senior post Blake Jensen (shown here in a game earlier this season) scored a game-high 22 points to help the Bowmen get a 65-45 Pacific Conference win at Newberg.The Sherwood High School boys and girls basketball teams made it a Bowmen sweep when they faced Newberg in a Pacific Conference doubleheader played Friday at Newberg High School.

The Sherwood boys scored a 65-45 win over the Tigers. With that win, the Bowmen improved to 4-0 in conference play (10-6 overall), leaving Sherwood alone atop the conference standings. Newberg moved to 2-1 in conference games (8-7 overall), putting the Tigers in a tie with Liberty for second place in the league standings.

Senior post Blake Jensen led the Bowmen in the victory with 22 points. Senior point guard Jamison Guerra added 21.

The Sherwood girls scored a 44-37 victory at Newberg. With the win, the Lady Bowmen improved to 2-2 in conference play (8-8 overall), putting them in fourth place in the conference standings. The Tigers fell to 0-3 in conference games (10-5 overall), putting them in seventh place in the standings.

The Sherwood squads, who each have a bye from Pacific Conference play on Tuesday, will be back in action on Friday, when they host Glencoe in a conference doubleheader to be held at Sherwood High School. The varsity girls game will start at 5:45 p.m., with the boys contest to follow at 7:15 p.m.

On Tuesday, Feb. 4, the Bowmen teams will play in a conference doubleheader at Century. The girls game will start at 5:45 p.m., with the boys game to begin at 7:15 p.m.
