Both Tualatin teams also turn in strong performances at the Metro League event

PHOTO COURTESY OF MIKE JULIANA - Tualatin High School senior Jeff Jost helped the Timberwolves finish in fourth place in the team standings at the Metro League giant slalom race.Tigard and Tualatin Ski Teams were back in action for Metro Ski League competition at Mt Hood SkiBowl for giant slalom races on January 25. The girls Giant Slalom boys race was held on the Dog Leg Giant Slalom Race venue. The girls race was held on Reynolds Giant Slalom Race venue. 

Tigard girls turned in another dominating performance, winning the team event. Tiger senior Sarah Gentry won the individual girls event.

The Tigard Girls team finishing in first place with a combined team time of 5 minutes, 5.53 seconds, while also claiming four of the top 12 places for the day. Gentry finished first with combined time of 1:36.40. Emily Sverdrup finished fifth with time of 1:44.17. Corin Hartnell also contributed team times, finishing seventh with a mark of 1:44.96. Megan Wargo finished 12th with time of 1:47.21. Guilia Cortelazzo finished 23rd with time of 1:53.63.

The Tigard girls finished ahead of Sunset who finished in second place with combined team time of 5:11.18.

The Tualatin boys team finishing fourth with combined time of 8:09.12 during a difficult day with challenging conditions for all competitors on the Reynolds Giant Slalom course. Only 31 varsity racers successfully finished the race.

Tualatin senior Jeff Jost led the way for the Timberwolves, turning in a strong performance with a seventh-place finish and combined time of 2:36.81.

Peyton Sapp finished 14th with time of 2:44.31. Kit Jordan contributed a team time finishing 18th on the second run with time of 1:22.99. Braden Fisk contributed a team time, finishing 25th on the first run with time of 1:25.01.

The Wolves were led by senior Caylum Tippett, who finished 20th with combined time of 1:51.61. Hannah Gitt contributed team times, finishing 22nd with time of 1:52.78. Megan Jost also contributed team times, finishing 24th with time of 1:53.34. Natalie Mathis finished 28th with time of 1:58.47. Cassia Tippett finished 35th with time of 2:04.19. Audrey Maucourt finished 37th with time of 2:10.00.

The Tigard boys were down two of their top four varsity racers for the event and managed to put together a sixth-place finish with combined team time of 8:33.01. Mitchell Atwood led the Tigard boys with an 11th-place finish with combined time of 2:40.85. Jacob Zoeller finished 24th with time of 3:06.57. Luke Wargo contributed a team time and had the fastest run of the day for all Tigard boys with a sixth-place first-run time of 1:14.90. Haden Oelke contributed the final team time with a second-run finish in 28th place with time of 1:30.69.

Sherwood racer Austin Burr finished 26th with combined time of 3:07.81 for the boys event.

Markus Falconer from Westview won the boys individual event.  Sunset won the boys team event with combined time of 7:45.82.
