Lathrop, Brown earn first-team TRL honors
The Tualatin High School girls basketball team experienced quite a turnaround season in the 2019-20 campaign.
The Timberwolves, after going 5-9 in Three Rivers League play the year before, reversed that this past season, placing third in the final league standings a 9-5, while going 19-7 on the season and reaching the second round of the Class 6A state playoffs.
Now, a trio of those Tualatin players have been honored on the Three Rivers League all-league teams for the 2019-20 season. Leading the way for the Wolves is junior post Natalie Lathrop.
While playing strong all season, the 6-foot-3 Lathrop had a huge game for Tualatin in a 66-40 win over St. Mary's Academy in a game played Feb. 11 at Tualatin High School. In that contest, Lathrop scored 35 points on a 14-for-14 shooting night from the field. She also had 17 rebounds and 10 blocked shots to complete a triple-double.
Also for Tualatin, junior guard Sidney Dering was a second-team All-Three Rivers League selection, and junior guard Kasidy Javernick was an honorable-mention pick.
Tigard senior guard Kennedy Brown joined Lathrop as a first-team All-Three Rivers League selection. Brown, a three-year starter for the Tigers, came back strong from a knee injury that ended her junior year at the Class 6A state tournament, to have a solid senior season for Tigard, which went 4-10 in Three Rivers League play.
Also for the Tigers, sophomore post Sarah Lamet was a second-team All-Three Rivers League selection. Senior guard Delaney Leavitt and junior wing Ajae Holdman were both honorable-mention picks.
Other all-league first-team picks include West Linn junior Aaronette Vonleh, Canby senior Nicole Mickelson, Oregon City senior Tyra Bradford, West Linn junior Audrey Roden, St. Mary's sophomore Abby Graham and West Linn junior Cami Fulcher.
Other all-league second-team selections include Lakeridge senior Abbi Fedrizzi, St. Mary's freshman Sofia Bell, Oregon City junior Emmaly Welch, Oregon City senior Katie Kathan, Canby junior Zoe Thompson and Lakeridge junior Addie Reardon.
Other all-league honorable-mention picks include Canby senior Allie Odell, Canby freshman Allie Mead, West Linn junior Payton Shelstad, Lakeridge sophomore Reese Ericson, Oregon City junior Mia Martineau, St. Mary's senior Anna Eddy, Lake Oswego junior Emma Jeanson and Canby senior Naarai Gomez.
Vonleh was named the Three Rivers League Player of the Year. Fulcher was named the Three Rivers League Defensive Player of the Year, and Lakeridge's Jason Brown was tabbed the Three Rivers League Coach of the Year.
