The Hillsboro minor league club will include 2017 West Linn High School and Stanford University standout Tim Tawa.

PMG FILE PHOTO - The Hillsboro Hops announced their 2022 roster April 4 and will start their season this Friday, April 8, at Ron Tonkin Field in Hillsboro.The Hillsboro Hops open the 2022 season versus the Tri-City Dust Devils at 6:35 p.m. this Friday, April 8, and when they do, they'll have a number of familiar faces on their roster.

The Hops' Opening Day roster — which was announced April 4 — features five players recently drafted in the MLB draft's first five rounds, including 2019 first-round pick Blake Walston; 2021 second-round picks shortstop Ryan Bliss and catcher Adrian Del Castillo; 2020 fourth-rounder third baseman A.J. Vukovich; and 2021 fifth-round pick Caleb Roberts.

Walston is listed as the No. 4-ranked prospect in the Diamondbacks organization, while Vukovich is No. 9, Bliss 16, and Del Castillo 17.

Additionally, 2017 West Linn High School graduate and former Stanford University infielder/outfielder Tim Tawa will start the season in Hillsboro. Tawa was selected in the 11th round of last year's draft after finishing his career at Stanford batting .290 with 12 home runs and 39 RBIs during his senior season.

Playing with the West Linn Lions, Tawa was selected as Oregon's Gatorade Baseball Player of the Year in 2017, and was twice the Oregon Football Player of the Year (2015, 2016).

Seventeen players on the Opening Day roster saw action with Hillsboro in 2021, including Walston and Vukovich.

Manager Vince Harrison will return for his second season with the Hops, and will be joined by hitting instructor K.C. Judge, pitching coach Jeff Bajenaru, and Ronald Ramirez.

As part of the opening night festivities, the Hops will retire the jersey of Hillsboro native, former Colorado Rockies star and former Hillsboro Hops coach Ben Petrick during a pre-game ceremony at Ron Tonkin Field. A plaque inscribed with "Petrick 6" will forever be displayed underneath the press box.
