The amount of media coverage is overwhelming now in regard to the novel coronavirus covid-19. We understand the concerns and fears, especially for our senior friends. We thought we would take a few moments to explain how we are working diligently to keep our residents protected.

Firstly, we are cleaning constantly. Topical surfaces are being cleaned with a bleach solution as are doorknobs and common spaces. Because the pathogen is transmitted by droplet contact on surfaces and airborne, we are supplying tissues and sanitizer throughout our residence along with continued reminders of handwashing; we cannot stress enough the importance of proper handwashing.

Next, we are following all state and federal guidelines on outside guests and visitors.

And education. It's been said that it's best to get information straight from the horse's mouth. So, as per the CDC, here are the symptoms of covid-19 in relation to allergies and the flu:

Allergies: sneezing; itchy nose, eyes or roof of mouth; runny, stuffy nose; watery, red or swollen eyes

Flu: fever; cough; muscle aches; fatigue and weakness, chills and sweat; congestion; sore throat

Covid-19: fever; cough; shortness of breath or difficulty breathing; symptoms appear 2-14 days after exposure

We care deeply about our resident seniors and their wellbeing. With vigilance and support we can help protect our seniors and hope this nasty virus passes quickly. Thank you, Country Meadows Village.
