Kleinman will take a more national role with the CAPACES network, which includes PCUN. Woodburn-based farmworkers’ union PCUN, which translates as “Northwest Treeplanters and Farmworkers United,” has elected Jaime Arredondo as secretary-treasurer to replace Larry Kleinman.

Expected for months, the move became official when the board voted Sunday at its annual convention.

Arredondo, 31, had been working with program development and fundraising at the CAPACES Leadership Institute.

Kleinman will remain involved in CAPACES, taking on a more national role as director of national initiatives. Kleinman, one of the two founders of PCUN along with current President Ramón Ramírez, will lead preparation efforts for the implementation of immigration reform, which is currently working through the U.S. Congress.
