McKay Road is expected to open at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday after a fatal head-on collision.

The Marion County Sheriff's Office reports that, according to witness statements, a semi-tractor trailer, driven by Joey McMaster, 43, of Portland, hauling waste water was westbound on McKay Road near Gearin Road, when an eastbound SUV, driven by Marissa McConnell, 43, of Newberg, drifted into the oncoming lane and impacted the semi-truck head on. McMaster was taken by Life Flight to Oregon Health & Science University with serious injuries. McConnell was killed on impact. Police said it is not clear why she swerved into the oncoming lane, but cell phone use has been ruled out.

The road has been closed since around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, as crews remove the massive amounts of wreckage and fuel spilled during the collision.
