Armed Forces Day: All day May 20, downtown Mount Angel

To celebrate Armed Forces Day, American Legion Post #46 in Mount Angel will have military vehicles parked on Main Street for visitors to view.

Veterans are invited to stop by the Glockenspiel for a free dessert in honor of Armed Forces Day.

Small Business Saturday: Noon May 20, Downtown Plaza

INDEPENDENT FILE PHOTO - Rep. Teresa Alonso Leon is trying to hold a Small Business Saturday event every month. Last month included a visit from U.S. Congressman Kurt Schrader.Rep. Teresa Alonso Leon will be meeting with residents tomorrow at the Downtown Plaza at noon. She will be joined by Economic Development Director Jamie Johnk to discuss development and other business-related matters the city is working on, particularly in the downtown area.

The public is invited to have lunch with the representative following the event.

Aztec codices on Matte paper: 2:30-4:30 p.m. May 20, Woodburn Public Library

Learn about the symbolism of the Aztec calendar and codices. Practice drawing and painting on authentic "matte" paper. This program for ages 7 and up will be available at the Woodburn Library, 280 Garfield St., Woodburn, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

Spaghetti Dinner & Auction and Mr. JFK Pageant: 5 p.m., Kennedy High School

Doors open for the auction at 5 p.m., with dinner served at 5:30 p.m. Cost for dinner is $10 per person, or $40 for a family (up to six).

After the auction closes, support Doernbecher Children's Hospital by attending the Mr. JFK Pageant at 7 p.m. This year's contestants are Brett Traeger, Jack Suing, Bishop Mitchell, John Kim and Skyler Bizon. Cost is $5 per person.

Crime Prevention and Neighborhood Watch Program: 2 p.m. Sunday, St. Paul Fire Station Meeting Hall

City leaders in St. Paul and Donald invite the public to an hour-long meeting on crime prevention and Neighborhood Watch.

Sgt. Jason Hickam with the Marion County Sheriff's Office will be presenting.

The meeting will be held at the St. Paul Fire Station meeting hall, 4233 Church Ave., St. Paul. Learn about how to prevent crime in your area.

All ages are invited.
