Members of North Marion and Woodburn school boards presented with awards at recent OSBA convention

Three school board members from North Marion School District and one from Woodburn were recognized at a recent Oregon School Boards Association convention.

North Marion's Bill Graupp was among 12 locally elected board members recently recognized with a platinum award for completing course work through OSBA's Leadership Institute.

Heidi Torian, also on the North Marion board, and Gustavo Gutierrez-Gomez, Woodburn School Board member, were among 17 board members presented with gold awards.

Scott Mills, also a member of the North Marion School Board, received a silver award.

The awards, presented Nov. 11 at OSBA's 71st annual convention in Portland, recognize board members for significant levels of achievement in leadership and development. There are four levels: bronze, silver, gold and platinum.

"This award recognizes those local school board members whose volunteer service and dedication help create a better future for Oregon's children," said OSBA Executive Director Jim Green in a press release.

OSBA is a member services agency for more than 200 locally elected boards serving school districts, education service districts and community colleges. It also provides services to charter schools and their boards.
