The third annual Chili Cook-Off & Chili Feed presented by the French Prairie Kiwanis Club will be hosted by Hoodview Church of God from 1-2:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20.
The public is invited to enter their chili creations and compete for awards, including People's Choice and Judges' Choice.
The friendly competition also features several "challenges," including a First Responders' category, pitting firefighters and EMTs against police. After the first two years, the competition is tied with the firefighters winning the first year and the police getting revenge last year.
Proceeds go to the AWARE Food Bank and Love INC of North Marion County. Almost $3,000 has been raised to date for these community organizations.
General admission is $5 with a family maximum of $25 and features an all-you-can-eat chili bar.
Voting for a favorite chili is done by "stuffing the ballot box" with money, with the chili receiving the most money deemed the People's Choice.
A panel of public figures will comprise the judging panel for the coveted Judges' Choice award.
Hoodview Church of God is located at 1530 Mount Hood Ave. in Woodburn.
