Live music and entertainment is available for the public at Metropolis downtown

LINDSAY KEEFER - Salvador Gasca opened A-CHEVE Taps and Wine at the Metropolis Marketplace in downtown Woodburn on Jan. 26.Metropolis Marketplace, located at 347 N. Front St. in downtown Woodburn, is starting what its owners hope to be a monthly tradition every first Friday.

Starting Feb. 2, Metropolis will host live music from 5 to 7 p.m. the first Friday of every month.

Woodburn Rocks is on tap for Feb. 2's live event.

The event is also just a week after the latest vendor at the marketplace opened up.

A-CHEVE Taps and Wine opened Jan. 26, offering local and imported beers, wine from Wooden Shoe Vineyards and cider from Bauman Farms.

Owner Salvador Gasca, who has been part of the Woodburn area for 25 years, said this business ventureLINDSAY KEEFER - In the past couple weeks, Metropolis Marketplace has added a bar and an arcade, complete with a pool table. is a first for him, but he's excited for the new challenge.

"Even though it's a bar, it's not crazy, how you think of a bar," he said. "We want to keep it where everyone is comfortable."

Anyone sitting at the bar must be 21 or over, but the rest of the building is family friendly, including the recently added arcade area, which also features a pool table.

Metropolis also houses the Hungry Lion, an Asian fusion restaurant, Coco's Coffeehouse and the Fruit Box snack bar. The marketplace still has spaces for two more vendors and is expected to open an event center on its second floor later this month.
