Two churches join forces to host a community-wide Ash Wednesday service at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 14

Hoodview Church of God will be joined by Pastor Kalina Malua Katoa and the Woodburn United Methodist Church as together they host a special Ash Wednesday service at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 14.

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent, a 40-day season devoted to reflection on Christ's suffering and sacrifice and the human sin that made it necessary, in preparation for Easter.

Steve Kufeldt, interim pastor of the Hoodview Church of God congregation, where the service will be held, explained that after gathering together for a brief time of worship and explanation, participants will have the opportunity to visit different stations in the church's lobby, each one focusing on different aspects of humanity and the need for Christ. The stations will be interactive with several designed for children.

The public is invited.

Hoodview Church of God is located at 1530 Mount Hood Ave. in Woodburn.
