Friends of French Prairie to host three meetings in Butteville, Hubbard and Aurora

Friends of French Prairie is conducting a series of educational public "meet the candidates" forums so residents of northern Marion County can meet the primary candidates in the upcoming election for House District 18.

House District 18 encompasses northern Marion County north of Woodburn but east of St. Paul, as well as Mount Angel, Silverton and Scotts Mills.

Residents have an opportunity to meet the primary candidates Doug Culver and Barry Shapiro, who are both running on the Democratic ticket for the district, and who both are residents of Silverton.

Rep. Rick Lewis is running unopposed for the Republican ticket.

Ben Williams of Friends of French Prairie explained that because the Democratic ticket is contested, those two individuals were invited to speak at the town meetings.

Residents of Donald, Butteville, Hubbard and Aurora are encouraged to express concerns and ask questions of the candidates, or to attend to just learn about the issues.
