Festival now goes through May 6 due to cool, rainy conditoins that kept the color in the fields

The festival, which started March 23, was originally scheduled to end April 30, but with cool, rainy temperatures, the number of visitors has been relatively low and the color in the field has been prolonged. So the festival will now run through May 6.

"The field is absolutely stunning," a post on the Wooden Shoe website says. "Tulips like the cool weather and are lasting longer than normal. The fields are still a little muddy so bring your boots."

Some of the attractions besides the 30-plus acres of tulips on display include a hot air balloon tether (in nice weather; call the hot air balloon hotline at 503-877-4693 for more information), the children's play area, craft booths, the gift shop, wine tasting and food.

Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week. Admission is $5 per person ages 13 and up (or a maximum of $20 per carload).COURTESY PHOTO: WOODEN SHOE TULIP FARM - Tulips like cool weather, which means a prolonged Tulip Festival this year.
