Woodburn to celebrate National Day of Prayer May 3
The Woodburn Area Ministerial Association invites the public to a local observance of the "National Day of Prayer" at noon Thursday on the front steps of the Woodburn City Hall.
Area pastors will be joined by community leaders for a non-sectarian time of prayer for the community and nation. Students from St. Luke School will sing as part of the informal program.
Congress in 1952 established an annual day of prayer and, in 1988, that law was amended, designating the National Day of Prayer as the first Thursday in May.
The theme for 2018 is "Pray for America — Unity." The theme is based upon Ephesians 4:3 which challenges people to peacefully seek unity through God, "Making every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace." For more information about this event, call 503-981-1660.
