Fatal crash closes McKay Road near St. Paul
UPDATE at 9 a.m. June 11: Both Wall and Shennan, who were transported via Life Flight to the hospital, have died from their injuries. The scene of the fatal crash is expected to be closed from about 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today.
"The families of the deceased are coming in from out of county to take their loved ones back home," MCSO Sgt. Don Parise said in a message sent to the citizens of Donald. "They also wanted to see the crash location and we wanted to create a safe environment for them to grieve and go through their closure."
McKay Road near French Prairie Road was closed for many hours Thursday afternoon and evening following a crash that resulted in one fatality.
At 2:50 p.m., Jose Castilla-Castilla, 23, of Clackamas, was reportedly on McKay Road preparing to make a left-hand turn, which caused one vehicle to stop. A pickup truck driven by Paul Leyva, 27, of Wilsonville, did not stop and collided with the second vehicle, which then hit Castilla-Castilla's vehicle.
One occupant of the car hit by Leyva, Timotheus Albers, 37, died at the scene. The vehicle's other two occupants, Ronald Wall, 25, and Jamie Shennan, 22, were transported via Life Flight to Oregon Health & Science University, where they are both still in critical condition. All three men are employees of a Dutch technology company and arrived in the United States last weekend.
Leyva and Castilla-Castilla were transported by ambulance to an area hospital for evaluation.
Specialized investigators with the sheriff's office are still working to determine the events that led up to the crash. The sheriff's office was assisted by the Aurora Fire District, Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue, Life Flight, Marion County District Attorney's Office, Marion County Medical Examiner's Office and Marion County Public Works.
